Reviews
Be curious about the new looks, be reassured by the care taken to bring Advance Wars to a new generation, and look forward to precious minutes or expansive hours honing your tactical mind within a morning cartoon aesthetic.
Player 2
The love for Advance Wars oozes from this remake. The adjustments are subtle but tasteful and the new designs of the COs and units are among the best in the series. In terms of content, this package is worth the full price.
Power Unlimited
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is a delight for existing fans to jump back into an old favourite, but the timeless gameplay makes it fantastic to pick up for those new to the series.
Gfinity
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp offers two excellent strategy titles which will keep players busy for a ton of hours. Whether you’re an old fan happy to be back in command or someone enlisting for the first time, there’s a lot to recommend here. A bit more work updating things, particularly the balance of the latter half of the first game and the multiplayer experience, would have been welcome but that shouldn’t stop those wanting an excellent strategy experience from picking this one up.
Hey Poor Player
Nintendo’s 20-year-old tactical war simulator is like video-game chess – difficult to learn but satisfying to master.
Telegraph
Re-Boot Camp rescues Advance Wars’ brilliant gameplay formula from a 15-year hiatus, but does so without ever displaying any amount of ambition. Its lackluster online multiplayer offering is emblematic of a re-release that shines on purely through the ingenuity of the original’s gameplay loop.
